"Effective Writing Skills"

WRITING SKILLS

-the most important tool in effective writing skills
-use characters in writing for it to be understandable for readers

-use strong active visual verbs to propel your writing and readers along

The Manager crafted the memo with resonant characters and strong verbs

* THE 8 WORD TEST
-keep your noun and verb within 8 words of each other

* LINK SENTENCE AND PHRASES WITH EXPLICIT CONNECTORS
-using this explicit connector it could clear the flow throughout the thoughts of the document

*FROM OLD TO NEW
-establish common ground in your message development that would refresh their mind from
the past lessons and reconnect it to the present rather than instantly introducing them the new
information

*PROBLEM-SOLUTION-ACTION
-frame the problem
-pose a solution
-call action


STEPS IN GOOD WRITING

* -choose interesting subject
* -narrow the subject down
* -come up with a statement
* -answer the question "why"
* -wrap it up

  1. The action verb used to show when somebody does something and main be used alone as the main verb of the sentence.Action verb are time-telling verbs. They also tell when something takes place and can be actions you can't see. Ex. The fire started in the basement in a pile of rags.

  2. 1. Link sentence and Phrases with explicit connectors is used to connect sentences so that it will have a clear thought. Example: The baby is hungry because of that he cried.

    2. The 8 word test explains that, to make the sentences clearer it should have 8 words or below between the noun and verb. Example: The cat, which was my favorite pet was playing with the yarn.

    Ex.The students of Christ The King College study their lessons at the library.

    2.The link sentences and phrases with explicit connectors,it is the usage of connector to express the thought accurately.
    Ex. She study her lessons dearly so that she can pass her exam tomorrow.

  4. The 8 word test explains the distance between the noun and verb it should be within 8 words only, so that the statement or sentences should clear and understandable.

    -are expressing action, something that a person, animal, force of nature, or thing can do.
    (ex. john watched pretty women in skimpy bikinis on the beach.)
    THE 8 WORD TEST:
    -In making a sentence there should be not more than 8 word gap,between a noun and verb.
    (ex. The kids at the plaza were playing a ball yesterday.)

  6. I learned so much from the report about "writing skills". I find it very interesting because I am very eager to learn new ideas and strategies on how to improve my skills in this field for I am really not that very good in it. Now, I have the guidelines to follow for me to wrote effectively.
    Example of 8 word test
    "An accountant doing his best to make the report accurate."

  8. Link sentence and Phrases with explicit connectors are being used to order to connect in the sentence and to be more understandable.
    Ex: Jenny got high fever so she went to hospital.

    THE 8 WORD TEST
    - to make the sentence to understand clearly with an 8 word gap between the verb.
    Ex: Jenny who was very studious, passed the board exam.

    ->using this explicit connector in the sentences, we can easily understand the meaning of the sentence.
    Ex.
    wrong:
    - The school program ends well. The students and teachers were very happy about it.

    Right:
    - The school program was done successfully therefore the students and the teachers were very happy about the result.

    PROBLEM-SOLUTION-ACTION
    -> it is about frame up a problem, rise a solution and conduct an action.
    Ex:
    Problem: The ABC Company had so many damages machineries because of the fire.

    Solution: The Company President decided to buy new machineries.

    Action: The President of the company will set up an appointment w/ its subordinate.

  10. Link Sentences and Phrases with Explicit Connectors
    -- are used to connect two sentences that are related to each other in order to make the though or the idea clear to readers.

    Ex.Wrong:The administrators planned to increased the wages.Employees are very pleased and happy knowing about it.

    Right: The company administrators planned to increased the wages furthermore the employees are very pleased and happy having been informed about it.


    Active Verbs
    --Used to propel your writing and the readers.

    Ex. Wrong: The proposal is already done.

    Right: The Project Manager drafted the Proposal.

  12. hi. good day! the post was very kind to the readers. it teaches us knowledge on how to be good in writing. Constructing words in a sentence seen so difficult to me because there should be a proper arrangement of words in order it to be grammatically correct. with this post, now i know how to improve my writing skills.

    -only 8 words can be the gap between the noun and the verb of the sentence.
    Example: The accountant who was newly hired made an income statement.

    2. THE ACTION VERBS
    -are verbs that specifically describe what the subject of the sentence is doing.
    Example:I gracefully jumped over the old rotten log.
